sample page, sample text...

Until recently, the users of phpLinkDirectory - one of the best link directory scripts available - were forced to search tens of sites when looking for a template for their new directory. Sometimes the only thing they could preview was a static image with absolutely no possiblity to check details, features or the look of inner pages. More than that, a coherent template description and objective review was lacking, making the process of choosing the appropriate template time-consuming.

Other well know scripts already had ways to overcome this issues (see the well known Wordpress Codex) so it was about time one was created for phpLD: I present you the phpLD Codex. The templates are placed in categories according to the script version they're compatible with but more important, according to their features: fixed width, fluid width, advertisement ready or recommended for search engine optimization, a feature desirable for all link directories. Not only this, but a review is associated with each template along with even more details about it: does it support banners? text link advertising? it's ready to take article submissions? shows social bookmarking bars? does it alow RSS content? And to make things even better, you can see live what you get. With the 'test run' ability, you can check any template live on a test directory with a single click.
